And later when they bloom, I’ll make a bouquet of the delicate flowers and bring them inside to put in a vase. And when the pods dry, I’ll keep the seeds to sow next year and the next and the next.

Welcome home.

BELTANE

BELTANE, THE TIME TO CELEBRATE the Union of Goddess and God as They become lovers, is the beginning of Summer and lies halfway between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice, when the lush beauty of the Earth blossoms in all Her glory. The traditional Maypole dance is a metaphor of this union. Atop the pole, which represents the phallus of the God, each dancer ties a ribbon. Then a wreath of fresh flowers, representing the yoni of the Goddess, is placed there. The pole is erected and the dancing begins, every other dancer going deosil or widdershins around it, weaving their magick as the wreath slowly descends. This is the dance of the Hieros Gamos, the Great Rite, the Sacred Marriage.

During Beltane, the veil between the worlds opens, just as it does during Samhain, its opposite on the Wheel. At Beltane, the portal opens to the realm of Faery, the magickal place where time runs differently, where anything and everything is possible, where otherworldly light shimmers, where longings and desires are satisfied.

This story follows a young woman into her Mystery School as she learns about sexuality within this spiritual context.
